United4Change Center has been working with Rotary Foundation, many Rotary Clubs from Districts 5520 and 5730 – Hobbs, Lovington, Carlsbad, East Odessa, West El Paso, Albuquerque, Los Alamos, Roswell, Santa Fe & the Rotary Club of San Jorge-Bolivia, as well as the Southeast New Mexico Cycling Club, five (5) individual donors, and all local stakeholders of the community of Quime to establish the first and only Women Support and Empowerment Center for women and girls in Quime and surrounding mining communities. This Center will provide a place where more than 400 women and girls will learn new technical skills, leadership, and entrepreneurial/business management skills. All technical programs such as sewing, baking, handicrafts, and weaving, have been chosen by the women of this community and the curriculum has been developed with local teachers and instructors, according to Quime’s cultural values.
New businesses will be launched in this Center which is not only considered an incubator but also a place where participants and their families will continue to be engaged and supported through formal and informal gatherings. It is expected to launch 4 microenterprises that will receive seed funding and continues business and mentorship support.
Partnerships are as important to our work as the funding that has been made available for this project. U4C is deeply committed to partnering with all like-minded individuals and organizations in alleviating extreme poverty and building peace wherever possible.
