U4C Center Impact Program
Empowering Aboriginal Entrepreneurs in Argentina
- Argentina
Across 20+ communities in northern and southern Argentina, Aboriginal leaders, especially women, are building businesses rooted in tourism, gastronomy, traditional crafts, and agroecology, and their families and communities grow with them. Since 2021, U4C has made this possible alongside EXO Technology Solutions, National University of Jujuy, Impact Hub Buenos Aires, Impact Hub Houston, Microsoft Argentina, Edge Philanthropy, and local communities, delivering training that leaders and women themselves designed around their most urgent needs. Every entrepreneur who graduates strengthens REDEA, the Network of Aboriginal Community Enterprises in Argentina that they created themselves, and honors a cultural heritage that has endured for generations.
The Challenge
Despite recent gains in recognition and rights, Latin American Aboriginal communities face persistent challenges: environmental degradation, resource exploitation, land evictions, and climate change compound marginalization through limited health and education access. The World Bank estimates that 43% of the Aboriginal population in Latin America lives in poverty, more than double the rate of non-Aboriginal populations and 24% live in extreme poverty.
In Argentina, communities such as the Kolla, Mapuche, Wichí, and Guaraní struggle with rural isolation, inadequate infrastructure, and restricted economic opportunities. These communities hold a rich cultural heritage rooted in resiliency. What they lack is not potential, it is access to quality education, training, and markets.
The Innovation
Everything starts with listening. Following the ILO Convention, we facilitated a free, prior, and informed consultation (FPIC) and a needs assessment across 20 Aboriginal communities. The result: the Leadership and Small Business Program, 15+ culturally and linguistically sensitive workshops, with mentorship and business plan support for every participant. Training covers:
- Leadership skills
- Digital marketing
- Business development
- Environmental stewardship
- Gender equality
Since then, entrepreneurs have accessed ongoing mentorship, refined their business plans with expert support, and connected through the Digital Business Network for Aboriginal Entrepreneurs of Argentina. From that foundation, they created REDEA: a community-led network that strengthens their businesses collectively and keeps their ancestral culture visible, valued, and preserved.
The Impact
Since 2021, 145 Aboriginal entrepreneurs across 22 communities in Jujuy, Salta, and Neuquén have launched and grown their businesses, and 90 have earned certification from the National University of Jujuy. Women make up 70% of participants, and an 80% average retention rate in every class reflects how deeply the program resonates.
What began with 41 community members across 19 communities has expanded through the community led Digital Business Network, reaching 22 communities by 2024 and strengthening the skills and professional networks of 27 more participants in 2025, most of them building community based rural tourism. Every year, the ripple reaches further.
Looking Ahead
In 2026, we are publicly launching REDEA, the Network of Aboriginal Community Enterprises in Argentina, giving 26 Aboriginal businesses global digital visibility and connecting them to new markets. A personalized mentorship program will accompany the 26 entrepreneurs as they strengthen their leadership and accelerate their growth.
When an Aboriginal woman builds a business, her whole community moves forward. Your support trains the next entrepreneur, and extends the network she is building.

And it reaches far beyond her home.
This movement is built on a simple truth: when one woman is supported, the impact doesn’t stop with her. It never does. It extends into her children, her neighbors, her community, into families, communities, and futures none of us will fully see, but all of us can help shape.
