Sonia Murillo-Branin, M.D.
Sonia serves as Medical Director, as well as serving on the Board of Directors of U4C. She is a Pediatrician at Nor-Lea Hospital, where she has practiced for more than for more than 7 years. She has received several awards such as The Most Compassionate and Sensitive Physician at Nor-Lea Hospital in 2011. For the past few years, with the help of her team (pediatric nurses, aids, PA and other staff), Dr. Murillo has created a Christmas program, distributing gifts to needy children. Sonia is a philanthropist and has served as an active volunteer for several local and international organizations including the Red Cross of Bolivia, Rotary International, and the Lovington Rotary Club. She is a co-founder of United4Change Center for International Development & Global Citizenship, serving as a board member and as medical director.
Sonia earned her Doctorate in Medicine and Surgery from the Universidad Mayor de San Andres in La Paz, Bolivia. She has also completed Post-Graduate Training in Pediatric and Child Health at Howard University Hospital in Washington, D.C. where she was elected as a class representative for an annual Graduate Medical Education Meeting. While working at Howard University Hospital, she received “The Praise Card” for excellent performance. While in Washington, Dr. Murillo served many Latino families at the La Clinica Del Pueblo, where she was presented with The Best Resident Serving the Latino Community Award. In 2016, she received the Paul Harris Fellowship Award from the Rotary Foundation and the Houston Heritage Award for Outstanding professional and service to the community. She is
member of the American Academy of Pediatrics, American College of Physicians and Surgeons and the American Medical Women’s Association.
