A Special Thank you

By U4C Team

On March 30th the U.S. celebrated Doctors‘ Day – we want to honor and thank doctors for all they do, especially in these very trying times. Doctors selflessly dedicate themselves to others and often risk their own well being to be of service to others.  On April 7th we will also celebrate the work of nurses and midwives, reminding global leaders of the critical role they play in keeping the world healthy.  More than even ever, during this global health crisis, we want to honor the doctors, nurses, nurse practitioners and midwives for the sacrifices they endure for our benefit.

Please join us in honoring doctors and other healthcare professionals who over the years have made such a difference in so many people’s lives, risking their own lives and devoting their love for humanity through their profession, unconditionally.  U4C is fortune to have a physician who serves as our Medical Director, Dr. Sonia Murillo-Branin.  She serves on the Board of Directors of U4C and oversees so many vitally important aspects of our work related to health and healthcare.  She is a Pediatrician at Nor-Lea Hospital, where she has practiced for more than 10 years. She has received several awards such as The Most Compassionate and Sensitive Physician at Nor-Lea Hospital in 2011. For the past few years, with the help of her team (pediatric nurses, aids, PA and other staff), Dr. Murillo has created a Christmas program, distributing gifts to children with disabilities, special needs and other challenges.  Sonia is a philanthropist and has served as an active volunteer for local and international organizations including the Red Cross of Bolivia, Rotary International, and the Lovington Rotary Club. She is a co-founder of United4Change Center for International Development & Global Citizenship and continues to provide leadership as a Board Member and as Medical Director.

U4C wishes to lift-up and recognize all the doctors and other healthcare professionals who have traveled abroad with U4C and are working on the ground in support of our mission.  At their own expense, they tirelessly responded to medical needs wherever they occurred and in some of the most difficult of circumstances.  In each case, they embraced the dignity of the men, women, and children they served and regularly demonstrated genuine concern and empathy for all concerned.  They are deeply appreciated.
